In her first novel, Stephanie Lehmann (a playwright) writes about a playwright named Jennifer Ward, who writes a play about her troubled relationship with her sister, a suicide. In the course of the play`s surprisingly successful way Off-Broadway production, Jennifer becomes involved with both the producer and the leading lady, but never lets romance get in the way of the stellar career ahead of her.
